SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Allie Buchalski and Tanner Hinkle have been named Southern Conference women’s and men’s runners of the week, respectively, for competition that took place Sept. 11-12, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Hinkle, a junior, led the Paladins at the Furman Cross Country Classic with a first-place finish in the 8K. His time of 24:17.30 helped the Furman men win the meet with 16 points, edging the likes of Auburn, Georgia, Wake Forest and Clemson. Hinkle was one of seven Furman runners to place in the top nine. This is Hinkle’s second career runner of the week recognition.

Buchalski, a two-time all-conference selection, claimed her second consecutive runner of the week honor by winning the women’s 6K with a time of 21:00.66. The junior led the Paladin women to a third-place finish, beating out Clemson and Wake Forest.

The SoCon cross country slate will continue on Friday with ETSU, UNCG and VMI all in action.
