UNCG?s Buehler named SoCon, NSCAA Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG goalkeeper Chloe Buehler has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week and National Soccer Coaches Association of America College Player of the Week for all competition Sept. 7-13.

Buehler notched 18 saves in two games in picking up a road win over NC State and a draw against former SoCon rival Elon. She allowed just one goal in 200 minutes of action, good for a 0.45 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.

In Thursday’s 2-0 win over the Wolfpack, Buehler notched seven saves in recording her second shutout of the season and fifth of her career. The win was UNCG’s first over an ACC squad since the 2012 season. Buehler, a redshirt sophomore from Perrysburg, Ohio, turned in a season-high 11 saves Sunday a 1-1 draw with the Phoenix, which entered the contest with a 5-1 record.

Both the SoCon and NSCAA awards are the first in Buehler’s career.

UNCG (2-5-1) is back in action when it hosts defending national champion Florida State on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Also nominated: Katherine Arroyo (The Citadel), Simona Koren (ETSU), Molly Dwyer (Furman), Sarah Daane (Mercer) and Hallie Georgi (Samford).
