UNCG?s Maguraushe named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Leeroy Maguraushe has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Aug. 28-30 after leading UNCG to a road win over Virginia Tech on Friday to open the season. The selection is made by the league office.

Maguraushe scored the only goal of the evening in the 106th minute, converting a Jacques Francois pass at the 105:14 mark to give the Spartans the 1-0, double-overtime win.

The goal was the first in the career of the freshman from Milton Keynes, England.

UNCG (1-1), which fell 2-1 to UNCW on Monday night, returns to action Friday, Sept. 4, when it hosts Longwood at 7 p.m. in a contest that can be seen live on the SoCon Digital Network.

Also nominated: Nestor Jaramillo (Wofford).
