KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) named contenders for the 2015 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy on Wednesday. Wofford junior forward Matthew Aurednik was one of 30 NCAA Division I men’s players honored with a nomination.

Last season, Aurednik earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors as a sophomore, scoring 10 goals and totaling 20 points while starting all 17 games played. He finished the season ranked 17th in the nation in goals per game with 0.59.

“I’m excited to have him recognized with such a high honor,” said Wofford men’s soccer head coach Ralph Polson. “It’s a reflection of the success he had last year, and I hope it carries over to a successful junior year. It’s an honor to be recognized among some of the best players in the country.”

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer, presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

The lists are compiled by the NSCAA Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I All-America Committees, based on analysis of returning All-America and all-region players, as well as any prominent newcomers.

Near the end of the collegiate regular season, NCAA Division I coaches whose programs are current NSCAA College Services members will vote on their top choices and the lists will be narrowed down to the top 15 players. Six finalists (three men, three women) will then be chosen for the award.

College soccer fans will also have the opportunity to participate in the selection process, by voting for their favorite semifinalist in November at the MAC Hermann Trophy website.
