GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman goalkeeper Sven Lissek has been named a second-team College Soccer News Preseason All-American, it was announced earlier this week at CollegeSoccerNews.com.

An NSCAA All-Region choice and second-team All-Southern Conference pick a year ago, Lissek paced the SoCon with a 0.59 goals against average and 12 shutouts en route to leading the Paladins to a SoCon tournament title and NCAA tournament berth. His crucial save in a penalty kick shootout advanced Furman past UAB in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. In second-round play, Lissek saved another penalty kick in a shootout and converted from the penalty spot as Furman was eliminated by nationally ranked Washington.

A native of Sewau, Germany, Lissek enters his senior season tied for third in school history with 21 shutouts. His 0.71 career goals against average ranks among the best in both school and conference history.

Furman opens its 2015 regular season on Friday night when it faces the NC State Wolfpack in the opening game of the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. The Paladins cap tournament play on Sunday versus Seton Hall.
