SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College Director of Athletics Richard Johnson has announced that Lynze Roos has been named head coach of the volleyball team. Roos has spent the last nine seasons as the head coach at Lynn University.

“We are excited to have Lynze joining the Wofford family as head coach of our volleyball program,” said Johnson. “She is such a great fit for our department and we look forward to having her on the court in a few weeks”

Lynze Roos was at the helm of the Lynn University volleyball team for nine years with four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances under her belt. Roos ranks as the all-time winningest head coach in program history with 164 career victories. During her tenure, she coached the Fighting Knights to four-straight 20-win seasons and NCAA Division II South Region Tournament appearances from 2007-2010.

Roos has also demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence. For the eighth year in a row, the Lynn volleyball team earned American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award in 2013-14. During that same academic year, the volleyball team posted the highest team GPA out of Lynn’s 14 athletic teams with a 3.81 cumulative grade point average.

For the past five years, Coach Roos' volleyball team has won the coveted Knight's Cup. The Knights Cup competition at Lynn encourages the achievement of academic excellence, promotes personalized choices for supplementing the student-athlete's educational background, provides opportunities for personal development, involves the student-athlete as a role-model/leader, supports the team concept and encourages student-athletes to support fellow student-athletes. At the end of the academic year, the team that has earned the most points is named the Knights Cup Champion.
