Mr. John Iamarino
Commissioner
Southern Conference
702 North Pine Street
Spartanburg, South Carolina  29303

Dear Mr. Iamarino:

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate your conference’s recipients of the NCAA Public Recognition Award. This honor is bestowed on teams with an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports in 2013-14. The list of all those recognized may be found on ncaa.org. The attached list notes those teams in your conference that received this distinction. A letter has been sent to each of the head coaches noted on the attachment acknowledging the team’s academic success.

Thank you for your leadership and support of the academic success of your student-athletes. These teams represent intercollegiate athletics at its best. Once again, I congratulate you, the head coach, student-athletes, athletics department and institution for the outstanding academic achievements of these teams.

Sincerely,

Mark Emmert
President
