HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's lacrosse team will take on Towson on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Baltimore, Md. in the play-in round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers (10-6) defeated No. 20 Richmond in the Southern Conference Championship in double overtime to earn the program's first NCAA berth. Towson (11-5), meanwhile, enters the tournament as the winners of the Colonial Athletic Association.
HPU is hitting its stride at the right time and is riding a season-long four-game winning streak. The team has tallied three straight one-goal wins to keep its tournament dreams alive.
Fittingly, the Purple & White will play its first NCAA Tournament game against the same team they beat to earn their first Division I win. Junior Dan Lomas scored four goals and redshirt-senior Austin Geisler made 11 saves as the Panthers earned a 9-7 win over the Tigers on Feb. 8, 2013.
The winner will advance to play No. 1 Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. on Saturday, May 9 at 5 p.m.
