BRADENTON, Fla. – Furman’s Taylor Totland shot a 75 on Sunday to conclude play at the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships at the par-72, 6,468-yard The Concession Golf Club.
After completing the second round Sunday morning, Totland, a sophomore from Tinton Falls, N.J., teed off of No. 10 in the third round Sunday afternoon and notched back-to-back birdies on No. 11 and No. 12. After an hour delay due to lightning just six holes into the round, Totland made the turn at 2-under. Despite struggling on No. 2, she recovered and birdied No. 5, finishing the third round at 3-over.
She finished her day tied for 96th at 25-over241 (83-83-75).
“While Taylor did not play as well at the NCAA finals as she would have liked, she had a great year,” said Furman head coach Kelley Hester at the conclusion of the round. “We are proud of her accomplishments and know that she learned a ton at this year’s championships that will pay dividends down the road.”
Sunday’s afternoon round was suspended at 8:21 p.m. due to lightning and will resume at 7:30 a.m. on Monday. The top 15 teams and top nine individuals not on an advancing team will begin the final round of stroke play Monday at 10:50 a.m.
Emma Talley (E) of Alabama leads the field by one stroke after firing an opening-round 70 and adding a 73 in each of the next two rounds. In the team competition, top-ranked Southern California (+28) holds a three-stroke lead with three holes remaining in the round. Fourth-ranked Duke (+31) is in second place, while No. 5 Arizona (+41) moved up into third.
