BRADENTON, Fla. – With three holes left in the round, play was suspended for Furman sophomore Taylor Totland on Saturday in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships at the par-72, 6,468-yard The Concession Golf Club.
Totland, a native of Tinton Falls, N.J., teed off of No. 10 Saturday afternoon and birdied No. 17 and No. 3, but was 8-over after 15 holes in the second round of play. She is tied for 104th.
The competitors who teed off in the morning were able to complete the round, but the afternoon round, which began an hour late due to teams finishing Friday’s round, was suspended at 7:25 p.m. due to lightning. The second round will conclude at 8:25 a.m. on Saturday, with third-round action commencing at 8:30 a.m. Totland will tee off in the afternoon wave Sunday, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Emma Talley (-2) of Alabama leads players who completed the second round after firing an opening-round 70 and adding a 73 on Saturday. In the team competition, top-ranked Southern California (+14) moved into the top spot with four holes remaining in the round. Fourth-ranked Duke (+23) is in second place, while No. 12 Tennessee (+27) moved up into third.
Hosted by the University of South Florida, the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships feature teams and student-athletes who advanced from NCAA Regional qualifying competing in an individual stroke-play format over 72 holes Friday-Monday, with the top eight teams qualifying at the conclusion of play for the team match-play tournament Tuesday and Wednesday.
