UPDATED - Rain forces changes to SoCon Championship schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Due to heavy rain in the Charleston area, the schedule for the Southern Conference Baseball Championship presented by Mountain Shore Properties has been adjusted. No. 3 seed Wofford will take on No. 6 seed Furman on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. The remaining two games originally scheduled for Wednesday will now take place Thursday.

The game between No. 8 seed The Citadel and No. 1 seed Mercer, originally scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday, will now take place at 9 a.m. Thursday. The contest between No. 4 seed VMI and No. 5 seed UNCG, which was originally scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, will now be played at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

The rest of the adjusted tournament schedule can be found below. Barring additional weather delays, the tournament should be back on schedule after the completion of Friday’s action.

No. 2 seed Samford rallied past No. 7 seed Western Carolina, 8-7 in 10 innings, to open play Wednesday. Before the day’s second scheduled game could begin, the area was hit by a downpour that necessitated altering the rest of the day’s schedule.
