VMI Competes at IC4A/ECAC's
PRINCETON, N.J. - The women's 4X100-meter relay team broke the school record for the third time this season, pacing the VMI Keydet track and field teams at the IC4A/ECAC Championships Saturday in Princeton, N.J.
Mia McClain, Bria Anderson, Kerisha Goode and Yaa Agyepong-Wiafe timed in at 47.36 to finish 11th overall and set the new VMI best. Anderson and Goode also returned later in the day, with Anderson leaping 5.65 meters (18'6 1/2") to place ninth in the long jump. Goode was 18th in the 200-meters, crossing the line in 24.99 seconds.
On the men's side, Avery Martin finished 13th in the 1,500-meters with a time of 3:51.48. Davon Guerrier was 19th in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 14.82 seconds.
Two relay teams were also in action, with the 4X400-meter relay squad finishing 16th in 3:18.53 as Andrew Gould, Martin, Jacob Lysher and Julian Jackson teamed up for the time. Jackson, Guerrier, Aron Long and Pete Reed finished 19th in the 4X100-meter relay with a time of 43.96.
Lysher was also in action in the 800-meters, where he finished 29th in 1:57.78.
Jordan White wrapped up his outstanding season Sunday as he competed in the shot put on the final day of the IC4A Championships, contested in Princeton, N.J.
White finished 22nd overall in the event, posting a best mark of 14.54 meters (47'8 1/2") on his third and final throw of the day. He was the only Keydet in action on the final day of the Championships.
VMI track and field now must wait to see if any Keydets qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round meet, which will be contested May 28-30 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Bulldog Pair Solid at N.C. A&T Last Chance Invite
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Capers Williamson placed second and Clay Allen finished fourth as The Citadel pair look to strengthen their case for the NCAA Division I Outdoor East Regionals with solid performances in the javelin event at the N.C. A&T Last Chance Invitational on Sunday morning.
Williamson (205-02) finished behind two-time Big East Champion and league record holder John Krzyszkowski, who tossed a 214-00 in the seven-man event.
Sandwiched between Williamson and Allen, who capped off the day with a throw of 201-04, was Christian Spaulding who represented High Point University with a toss of 204-10.
Williamson and Allen are looking to maintain their top 40 rankings in order to participate in the NCAA Division I Outdoor East Regionals at the University of North Florida on May 28-30. Williamson is currently ranked 28th, while Allen is 33rd according to Track & Field Results Reporting System.
