Baseball 5/11/2015 2:40:00 PM Southern Conference Wofford?s Clancey, Citadel?s Reeves Earn Weekly SoCon Honors SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford first baseman Conor Clancey and Citadel left-hander James Reeves have been named the Southern Conference player and pitcher of the week, respectively, for all games May 4-10. The selections are made by the league office.Clancey hit .524 and slugged an even 1.000 on the week as the Terriers claimed a conference series from Furman and topped Clemson. Clancey hit two home runs and four doubles and drove in nine runs on the week, with six of his 11 hits going for extra bases. He had hits in all five of Wofford’s contests and multiple hits in four of them.In Wofford’s 17-9 win over Clemson on Tuesday, Clancey was 3-for-6 with a double and three RBIs. The following day at South Carolina, the Scottsdale, Ariz., senior was 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and two runs scored.In Friday’s series opener against Furman, Clancey doubled for the third straight game, driving in two runs. He was 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a two-run homer in Saturday’s win and closed the series with three hits, one of which was his fourth double of the week, in Sunday’s 3-2 win.The award was Clancey’s second of the season.Wofford (35-18, 12-8 SoCon) closes out its regular season with a three-game SoCon series at ETSU (19-32, 6-15 SoCon) starting Friday and ending with a doubleheader Saturday.Also nominated: Connor Walsh (The Citadel), Devin Bonin (Mercer), Collin Woody (UNCG), Heath Quinn (Samford) and Will Connerley (VMI).Reeves picked up his second weekly honor of the season after throwing seven shutout innings in The Citadel’s 9-1 win over ETSU on Friday.The redshirt junior southpaw held the Bucs to five hits and two walks as he improved to 7-3 on the year.
