SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Allie Buchalski has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week while VMI’s Renee Reives earned Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. Samford’s Arse’ne Guillorel has been named the Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week while his teammate Sidney Jordan was selected as the Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.
Buchalski finished ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational last weekend with a school-record time of 10:13.61. The time currently ranks ninth in the NCAA this season, first in the SoCon and topped the previous school record of 10:18.61 set by Buchalski last week.
Reives made throws of 13.60 meters and 44.03 meters in the shot put and discus throw, respectively, at the High Point VertKlasse meet last weekend. The senior’s marks each rank in the top three in the SoCon.
Arse'ne Guillorel won the 5,000 meters at the Florida Relays last weekend with a time of 14:06.51. The time ranks first in the SoCon this year.
Sidney Jordan tossed the hammer a distance of 57.16 meters and the discus 49.19 meters last weekend at the Florida Relays. Both marks are currently tops in the SoCon this season.
