SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The 2015 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship is set for Saturday and Sunday (April 25-26) at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. The two-day meet will be the 91st annual Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the men and the 29th for the women.
The championships will begin Saturday at 8 a.m. with the women’s 10,000-meter run, followed by the men’s hammer throw at 8:30 a.m. The final event on day one will take place at 6 p.m. with the men’s pole vault. Action will resume at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning with the final five events in the men’s decathlon. The championship will conclude with the awards ceremony at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Samford claimed both the men’s and women’s indoor championships last season, scoring 207 points on the men’s side and 166.5 points on the women’s side. Western Carolina narrowly finished second in both championships, scoring 204 points on the men’s side and 155 points on the women’s side.
In the most recent power rankings, which include meets through April 19, Western Carolina leads both the men’s and women’s rankings with a sizeable advantage in both. Samford ranks second in both while ETSU is third on the women’s and Furman comes in third on the men’s side.
The rankings are determined by the top eight times or scores that are reported by the schools for each event that will be conducted at this weekend’s championships.
