CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Four Southern Conference right-handers were listed among the 39 players named to the midseason watch list for the 11th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, the association announced Tuesday. The Citadel’s Skylar Hunter, Samford’s Andres Gracia, VMI’s Taylor Edens and Wofford’s Will Stillman represent the SoCon on the list.

With four on the list, the SoCon tied the Atlantic Coast Conference for the most from any league.

Hunter and Gracia appeared on the initial preseason watch list.

Hunter is the SoCon’s career record-holder with 38 saves, breaking a tie for first with his 10th save of the season Tuesday night against Charleston Southern. His 10 saves in 2015 are second-most in the conference behind Stillman and he has struck out 43 batters in 34 1/3 innings over 21 appearances this year. Hunter, a junior from Hanahan, South Carolina, is the league’s active career leader with a .225 opposing batting average.

Gracia, a senior from Miami, Florida, is fourth in the SoCon this season with eight saves and is tied for ninth in league history with 25 career saves. Gracia owns a 2.08 ERA this season and has struck out 26 batters in 17 appearances.

Edens, a junior from Suffolk, Virginia, has accumulated nine saves in VMI's 12 victories so far this season, including saving both ends of doubleheader sweeps on two different occasions. The nine saves are good for third in the SoCon and are the second-most in a single season in Keydet history.

Stillman, a junior from Matthews, North Carolina, has made 18 appearances this season and recorded 11 saves. The 11 saves are the most in the Southern Conference and rank eighth in the nation. In 16.2 innings he has 27 strikeouts and 11 walks, with only seven earned runs allowed. For his career, his 15 saves are tied for the third-most in school history.
