SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior Yasmeen Ebada has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played April 6-12. Ebada was 3-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles competition as the Bulldogs went 2-1 last week. After dropping a narrow 4-3 decision at Troy, Samford reeled off two league wins over UNCG (7-0) and Western Carolina (7-0) to remain perfect (6-0) in conference play.
Competing at No. 2 singles, Ebada earned three straight-sets wins last week. The Cairo, Egypt, native opened with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Troy’s Sanae Ohta. In two league matches, Ebada cruised to a 6-4, 6-4 decision over UNCG’s Stephanie Falcon and a 6-2, 6-4 victory over WCU’s Shannon Bettiol.
Paired with Jessica Northcutt at No. 2 doubles, Ebada helped the Bulldog duo earn two league wins. Ebada and Northcutt downed Falcon and Blaine Boaz of UNCG, 8-4, and turned in an 8-0 victory over WCU’s Bettiol and Elizabeth Ansari.
The Bulldogs return to the court Saturday (April 18) when they visit Chattanooga in a matchup of the league’s two unbeaten teams in conference play.
