SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman runner Tripp Hurt has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Hurt won both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs at the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend. He recorded times of 8:29.31 and 14:18.23, respectively, to claim a pair of individual titles.
The senior led all male scorers with 20 points to earn the Most Outstanding Male Athlete honor. He was also selected as the Most Outstanding Male Track Performer by the league’s coaches.
The native of Bogart, Ga. sports a 3.567 grade point average as a physics major.
