SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior Stephanie N’tcha has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 23-29. N’tcha was a perfect 4-0 in all competition last week as the Bulldogs earned league wins over Furman (5-2) and Wofford (7-0). It is the second time this season the Abomey-Calavi, Benin, native has earned the award, after taking home the honor Feb. 17.

N’tcha impoved to 9-5 in singles play this spring and extended her winning streak to three matches with a pair of straight-sets victories. The senior topped Furman’s Ansley Speaks, 6-1, 6-2, before topping Wofford’s Catherine Martin, 6-4, 6-2.

Paired with Carita Moolman as the top doubles team for Samford, N’tcha helped Samford earn a pair of victories at No. 1 doubles. She and Moolman held off Speaks and Alex Moreno-Kaste of Furman, 8-7, before claiming an 8-3 win over Wofford’s Kalli Karas and Samantha Russell.

Samford, which has won three straight, returns to the courts Wednesday when the Bulldogs travel to face Mercer.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included ETSU’s Ioanna Markesini, Furman’s Alex Moreno-Kaste and Chattanooga’s Alison Storie.
