UTC?s Sauzon Named SoCon Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior Agathe Sauzon has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 18-24. The selection is made by the league office.

Sauzon posted a stroke average of 73.3 in wet conditions at the Briar’s Creek Invitational in Johns Island, S.C., on Monday and Tuesday. The senior from Valence, France, posted matching 3-over 75s in Monday’s first two rounds, which were played in rain and produced a tournament scoring average of 77.3. Sauzon followed that up with a career-best six birdies in fashioning a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to climb six spots into a tie for 14th in the 93-competitor field, which included six players ranked in the top 100.

Sauzon’s Tuesday round was part of Chattanooga’s collective 2-under 286, which was the fifth-best round in school history and one of just five sub-par rounds in the entire tournament. The Mocs tied for 11th out of 17 teams, five of which were ranked in the top 50.

Chattanooga is back in action April 6-7, when it hosts the inaugural Chattanooga Classic at Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Also nominated: Eraina Manor (The Citadel), Vivienne Chin (ETSU), Emily Stallings (Samford) and Lauren Dunbar (Wofford).
