SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Kenturah Williams has been named the Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week with teammate Verena Tobis taking the Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. Samford’s Brandon Hazouri has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and teammate Tray Oates has named the Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.
Williams came in third in the 100 meters at the 49er Classic last weekend with a time of 11.60. The time is currently tops in the SoCon this season and ranks as the fourth fastest nationally.
Tobis finished third in the javelin throw with a mark of 44.73 meters at the 49er Classic last weekend. The mark currently ranks first in the SoCon.
Hazouri ran a 3:47.48 to finish second in the 1500 meters at the Alabama Relays last weekend. The time is a personal-best for Hazouri and currently ranks first in the SoCon this season.
Oates vaulted to a height of 5.30 meters (17-4.5 feet) in the pole vault at the Alabama Relays to place first in the event. The mark currently ranks first in the SoCon and is tied for the top mark in the NCAA. It also tied the Samford school record.
