Several Changes to Weekend Baseball Schedule

ETSU’s weekend schedule altered

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The schedule for this weekend’s Upstate Classic has been altered due to weather conditions in Spartanburg, S.C.

The ETSU baseball team will now play UNC Asheville on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Pittsburgh (12 p.m.) and USC Upstate (4 p.m.) on Sunday. All three games will be played at USC Upstate’s Harley Park.

Originally, the Bucs were scheduled to play USC Upstate on Friday at 4 p.m., UNC Asheville on Saturday at noon and conclude the tournament with Pittsburgh on Sunday.

 

Furman moves game back to campus

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman’s baseball team will open First Pitch Invitational play on Friday when it plays host to Xavier in a 4 p.m. game at Latham Stadium on campus. 

The game, originally scheduled to be played at Fluor Field in downtown Greenville at 5 p.m., was moved to Furman and up an hour due to icy field conditions at Fluor Field. The Furman-Xavier game will be preceded by a 1 p.m. matchup between Presbyterian and Indiana, which was also moved to Latham Stadium.

The Paladins will face Indiana on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Fluor Field and wrap up the three-game weekend with a 3 p.m. Sunday contest versus PC, also at Fluor Field.

 

UNCG adds games at East Carolina

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After having this weekend’s home series with Bucknell canceled, the UNCG baseball team will instead travel to East Carolina this weekend to participate in the Keith LeClair Classic in Greenville, N.C.

The Spartans will take on the host Pirates, No. 24 Liberty and St. John’s during the two-day event. UNCG begins the weekend with a pair of games Saturday – facing ECU at noon and the nationally ranked Flames at 7 p.m. before closing out things Sunday at 11 a.m. versus the Red Storm. Michigan was originally supposed to take part in the tourney, but travel concerns prompted the Wolverines to pull out.

Following this weekend’s contests, the Blue and Gold returns home Tuesday for the first of a home-and-home set with ACC member Duke. First pitch at the UNCG Baseball Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.

 

Western Carolina’s weekend schedule altered

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Forecasts for inclement weather along the North Carolina coast this weekend have prompted officials at UNCW to make schedule changes involving the Western Carolina Catamount baseball team at the Hughes Bros. Challenge to be played on-campus at Brooks Field.

Western Carolina (2-1) will now face George Mason (1-2) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, before playing two games on Saturday. The Catamounts will square off against the host UNCW Seahawks (3-0) at 11 a.m. Saturday before wrapping up tournament play at 7 p.m. against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-2).

 

Wofford’s weekend times changed

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s home baseball schedule for the weekend has changed due to the threat of inclement weather.

The Terriers’ Friday game against Pittsburgh has been moved from a 5 p.m. start to a 2 p.m. start. The Saturday contest against Miami (Ohio) has moved from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday’s contest against UNC Asheville has been changed from 4 p.m. to 1 p.m.
