SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga junior Casey Jones has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played Feb. 9-16, while Furman’s Devin Sibley earned the CRONS Freshman of the Week Award, the league office announced Tuesday (Feb. 17).

Chattanooga’s Casey Jones has been named the league’s Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. Jones averaged 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists and shot 61 percent from the field as the Mocs earned wins over Wofford (56-46) and Samford (79-72). The junior scored at least 20 points for the seventh and eighth times, respectively, this season. Jones poured in a game-high 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a road win at Wofford before following that performance with 21 points and 10 rebounds against Samford to give him his sixth double-double of the season.

CRONS Freshman of the Week: Devin Sibley, Furman, G, Knoxville, Tenn.
Furman’s Devin Sibley averaged 20.0 points and 3.0 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field last week. Sibley opened the week with 11 points and six rebounds on the road at VMI. He followed that performance with a season-high 29 points in a seven-point loss at ETSU. Sibley was 12-of-24 from the field and was 4-of-8 from 3-point range. The Knoxville, Tenn., native leads all Southern Conference freshmen with 10.2 points per game and ranks third among all players in 3-point percentage (.418).
