CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Winter weather and travel-related issues stemming from the aftermath of Winter Storm Octavia have forced the cancelation of Tuesday night's scheduled men's basketball game between Western Carolina and Cleveland State in the Ramsey Center. Due to the late nature in the schedule, the game will not be made up.
Tuesday's game – which was slated to be the final nonconference game of the year for WCU – was set to be the second all-time meeting between the two schools on the men's basketball hardwood in the return trip of a home-and-home. WCU played at Cleveland State's Wolstein Center last December.
"I was informed of Cleveland State's decision not to travel to Cullowhee on Tuesday morning," said WCU Director of Athletics Randy Eaton.
Winners of four of its last six games on the year, Western Carolina (13-14, 8-7 SoCon) returns its focus to conference play and Saturday's final home date of the 2014-15 season. The Catamounts host the run-and-shoot offense of VMI (10-16, 6-9 SoCon) this Saturday, Feb. 21 at 4:30 pm as a part of a WCU hoops doubleheader with the women's squad who hosts Wofford at 2:00 pm. Both WCU basketball teams will honor their seniors prior to tip-off of their respective SoCon games.
