SPARTANBURG, S.C. – High Point attacker Michael LeClair and Richmond goalie Benny Pugh have been named the Inaugural Southern Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for games of Feb. 1-9, the league office announced on Tuesday. The selections are made by the conference office.

LeClair scored three goals and recorded six assists in the first two games of the season for High Point. The sophomore recorded two goals and four assists in a close loss to No. 3 Duke on Saturday. He also had a goal and two assists in the Panthers’ opener against Delaware on February 1.

The native of Elkridge, Md. currently ranks second in the SoCon in points with nine and ranks tied for first in assists per game at 3.00. He claims the first-ever SoCon Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week award in the league’s inaugural season.

Pugh made 15 saves while allowing just five goals in Richmond’s season-opening win against Saint Joseph’s on Saturday. The sophomore goalie’s 15 saves are the second most in the short history of the program.

The native of Powhatan, Va. aided a 5-0 Spider run during the game, which included a 29:29 scoreless stretch for Saint Joseph’s. He claims the first-ever SoCon Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award.
