WCU's Brown Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina senior guard Mike Brown has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Dec. 1-7. Brown averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of games last week for the Catamounts.

After playing just 18 minutes in WCU’s convincing win over Warren Wilson last Thursday, Brown scored a team-high 23 points at Illinois on Saturday.  The Charlotte, N.C., native was 8-of-13 from the field and connected on 3-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc.  Brown added five rebounds, five assists and four steals against the Illini.

Brown ranks fourth in the league in scoring (17.0 ppg), 10th in assist (2.9 apg) and is 13th in rebounding (5.9 rpg).

The Catamounts return to action Saturday (Dec. 12) when they visit Davidson.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Furman’s Andrew Brown, Mercer’s Jestin Lewis, UNCG’s Francis Alonso, Samford’s Darius Jones-Gibson, Western Carolina’s Mike Brown and Wofford’s C.J. Neumann.
