SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI’s QJ Peterson has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Nov. 24-30. Peterson averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists last week as the Keydets topped Presbyterian (76-61) before falling to Campbell (66-65).
The junior scored a team-high 25 points in the win over the Blue Hose. Peterson added eight rebounds, dished out five assists and recorded four steals in the win. He followed that performance with a game-high 20 points at Campbell. The Hedgesville, W.Va., native recorded seven rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes of action against the Camels.
Peterson leads the Southern Conference with 20.6 points per contest and has scored at least 20 points in each of VMI’s last four games.
The Keydets (2-3) return to action Wednesday (Dec. 2) when they host Central Penn at 7 p.m.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included The Citadel’s Quinton Marshall, Furman’s Stephen Croone, Mercer’s Phillip Leonard, Samford’s Christen Cunningham, Western Carolina’s Torrion Brummitt and Wofford’s Spencer Collins.
