SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Khadijah Wiley garnered Southern Conference offensive player of the week honors, and fellow Buccaneer Hailey Aguilar earned defensive player of the week recognition for competition that took place Nov. 2-8. Selections were made by the conference office.

Offensive Player of the Week: Khadijah Wiley ▪ ETSU ▪ Senior ▪ Middle Blocker ▪ Columbus, Ga.

Wiley, normally a defensive stalwart, flashed her offensive talents this past week by tallying 25 kills and a .404 hitting percentage in two ETSU wins. The Columbus, Ga., native put down 14 kills – one shy of her season high – in the Bucs’ 3-1 win over Wofford on Wednesday. She followed up with 11 kills and a .435 hitting percentage in ETSU’s sweep at UNCG, which marked the Spartans’ first home loss of the season. Wiley is one of three ETSU players to have appeared in every set this season. This is her first offensive player of the week honor and the second weekly award of her career. She took home defensive player of the week for Sept. 21.

Other nominees: Bailey Kernodle (The Citadel), Erin Bognar (Samford), Kristy Wieser (Chattanooga) and Jo-Leigh Vervelde (Western Carolina).

Defensive Player of the Week: Hailey Aguilar ▪ ETSU ▪ Freshman ▪ Defensive Specialist ▪ Oswego, Ill.

Aguilar, a freshman defensive specialist, totaled 45 digs in ETSU's pair of wins for an average of 6.43 digs per set. She notched a career-high 29 digs in the Bucs’ 3-1 victory against Wofford and 16 digs in a sweep of UNCG. The Oswego, Ill., product’s 29 digs were the most by an ETSU player this season. Aguilar ranks seventh in the SoCon with an average of 4.01 digs per set and has appeared in every match for the Bucs. She has reached double-digit digs in six of her last seven matches. This is the first weekly honor of her career.
