SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior Catherine Chason been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition that was held Nov. 11-17, the league office announced Wednesday.
Chason led the Mocs’ volleyball team in two come-from-behind wins last weekend. The Alpharetta, Ga., product posted 19 digs in a 3-2 win at ETSU before tallying 35 digs in a five-set win over Western Carolina that clinched the regular-season title for Chattanooga.
Chason has recorded double-digit digs in every match but one this year and sits fifth on UTC’s career digs list with 1,549. She ranks 65th nationally with an average of 4.70 digs per set and has started every match this year for the Mocs.
In the classroom, Chason boasts a 3.83 grade point average as an early childhood education major. She has made the Dean’s List and Athletics Director’s Honor Roll every semester. Additionally, she is a two-time Academic All-SoCon honoree and three-time recipient of the SoCon Commissioner’s Medal.
