SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Allie Davenport claimed Southern Conference offensive player of the week honors, and Western Carolina’s Nicole Ford earned defensive player of the week distinction for matches that took place Nov. 9-15. Selections were made by the conference office.

Offensive Player of the Week: Allie Davenport ▪ UTC ▪ Junior ▪ Outside Hitter ▪ Tyrone, Ga.

Davenport amassed 51 kills in two matches for Chattanooga this past week. The junior outside hitter put together a 25-kill performance in a five-set win over ETSU before posting a 26-kill effort in a 3-2 victory over Western Carolina, the latter of which clinched the Mocs’ regular-season title. Davenport, from Tyrone, Ga., averaged 5.10 kills per set and had a .219 hitting percentage across the two matches. She leads the Mocs with 348 kills on the season and is second on the team with 24 service aces. This is the second player of the week honor of her career.

Defensive Player of the Week: Nicole Ford ▪ Western Carolina ▪ Senior ▪ Middle Blocker ▪ Kings Mountain, N.C.

Ford capped her regular season with two impressive defensive performances. The senior middle blocker from Kings Mountain, N.C., had five blocks in a five-set loss to Samford before racking up 12 blocks in a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Chattanooga. Ford’s two performances gave her a 1.70 blocks-per-set average for the week. Her 12-block effort is tied for third in a single match in Catamount history and tied for first in the SoCon this season. This is her first career player of the week award.
