Chattanooga takes pair of duals
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team posted a pair of wins over Cumberland and Southeastern on Saturday. The Mocs won all 20 matches on the day, improving to 2-1 on the year.
It was a youth movement Saturday as 12 of the 20 matches were won by freshmen. Alonzo Allen, Chris Debien, Kamaal Shakur and Dominic Lampe were among the rookies who won two matches.
Dominic is the youngest of the three Lampes who suited up Saturday. John, a senior, won at 184 and 197, while sophomore Justin scored points at 174 and 184.
UTC is off to the Wolfpack Open in Raleigh next weekend. The next home match is Dec. 18 against No. 20 Ohio.

Campbell falls to American
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The wrestling Camels fell Saturday to American 27-11 in Carter Gym. The Camels move to 0-5 in duals and American improves to 1-0 on the season. Campbell returns to the mat on Nov. 21-22 as the team partakes in the Navy Classic on Saturday and the Wolfpack Open on Sunday.
Paul Duggan won the 165 bout by a 7-5 decision in sudden victory over Mitchell Wightman to earn the first points for the Camels. After going scoreless in the first period, Wightman chose the top and earned four points on a near fall. Duggan answered with an escape and a takedown of his own, but Wightman earned an escape to end the second period with a score of 5-3.
Duggan started the third period on the bottom and earned one point on an escape and got his fifth point on Wightman's second stall warning to tie the bout. After starting the overtime, Duggan quickly scored a takedown to win the bout.
Ville Heino picked up his third individual win of the season and four team points after defeating Joe Salvi in a 17-5 major decision. Heino earned seven takedowns in the 184 bout for 14 points and his final three came from an escape, penalty point from Salvi stall warnings and one point for riding time.
Jere Heino also picked up his third individual win of the season as he recorded a 14-1 major decision over Jake Scanlan in the heavyweight bout. Heino quickly earned the first takedown only to have Scanlan escape. Heino picked up his second takedown as the first period ended. After Scanlan deferred, Heino chose down and got the reversal for two points. Heino cemented his lead by scoring four points on a near fall, two points for a takedown and one point each for riding time and a Scanlan warning penalty.
No. 17 John Boyle earned a pin in 2:24 over Grant Blumenthal to start the match, giving American the 6-0 lead. Jeric Kasunic earned the first of three major decisions for the Eagles in his 12-0 win over Austin McNeill in the 197 bout. No. 8 David Terao (125 lbs.) won in a 14-3 major over Tyler Walker and Michael Dahlstrom defeated Quentin Perez at 149 pounds by a 13-3 major decision.
