ETSU?s Allmon Named Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU junior Briana Allmon has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition that was held Sept. 30-Oct. 6, the league office announced Wednesday.

Allmon, an outside hitter for the Bucs’ volleyball team, totaled 29 kills in two sweeps of conference rivals this past week, all while posting an efficient .439 hitting percentage. In a win over UNCG, Allmon put down 16 kills with only one error for a hitting percentage of .500. She added 12 digs against the Spartans for her fifth double-double of the season. Allmon followed up with 13 kills on 27 attempts for the Bucs in a defeat of Mercer.

Allmon has reached double-digit kills in 11 of ETSU’s 17 matches and leads the Bucs with 205 kills on the season. She garnered SoCon offensive player of the week honors on Monday.

The Flower Mound, Texas, native boasts a 3.95 grade point average as a nursing major. In 2014, she was a member of the fall academic all-conference team.

Other nominees: Katelyn Dimopoulos (Mercer), Virginia McNeill (Samford) and Teghan Henderson (Chattanooga).
