SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford forward Taylor Borman has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition Sept. 28 to Oct. 4. The selection is made by the league office.
Borman scored twice and added an assist as the Bulldogs downed The Citadel and Mercer on the road to remain unbeaten in SoCon play at 4-0.
In Friday’s 5-0 win at The Citadel, the junior from Georgetown, Ky., scored her third goal of the season in the 23rd minute to make it a 2-0 game before assisting on another strike just nine minutes later.
On Sunday at defending SoCon tournament champion Mercer, Borman picked up what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 41st minute, notching the only goal of the contest to keep Samford perfect in league play and run its winning streak to five matches.
The award is the first of Borman’s career.
Samford (9-4-0, 4-0-0 SoCon) is back in action when it hosts VMI (4-8-0, 0-3-0 SoCon) on Friday at 7 p.m. CDT.
