SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU junior Briana Allmon has been named Southern Conference offensive player of the week, and Mercer freshman Paige Alsten has earned defensive player of the week recognition for competition that was held Sept. 28-Oct. 4. Selections were made by the conference office.
Offensive Player of the Week: Briana Allmon ▪ ETSU ▪ Junior ▪ Outside Hitter ▪ Flower Mound, Texas
Allmon, a junior from Flower Mound, Texas, totaled 29 kills in two sweeps for the Bucs this past weekend, all while posting an efficient .439 hitting percentage. In a win over UNCG, Allmon put down 16 kills with only one error for a hitting percentage of .400. She followed up with 13 kills on 27 attempts for the Bucs in a defeat of Mercer. Allmon has reached double-digit kills in 11 of ETSU’s 17 matches and leads the Bucs with 205 kills on the season. Her 205 kills rank fourth in the SoCon. This is her first SoCon player of the week distinction.

Defensive Player of the Week: Paige Alsten ▪ Mercer ▪ Freshman ▪ Middle Blocker ▪ Lighthouse Point, Fla.
Alsten, a freshman, put forth an impressive defensive effort for Mercer this past week. She posted 18 blocks for the Bears over the course of three matches, averaging 1.80 blocks per set. The Lighthouse Point, Florida, native registered at least five blocks in all three matches, with her best performance coming in a seven-block effort versus ETSU. Alsten has had multiple blocks in 11 consecutive matches and 14 of 16 matches on the season. Her 1.59 blocks-per-set average in SoCon play leads the conference. This is her first player of the week recognition.
