SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Jamie Cunningham has been named General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition that was held Oct. 14-20, the league office announced Wednesday.

Cunningham, a sophomore on the Bulldogs’ cross country team, finished seventh out of 64 runners at the College of Charleston Classic in Rock Hill, S.C., on Friday. His time of 26:54.4 at the meet was his fastest time of the year in an 8K race and helped the Bulldogs place third out of eight teams overall. 

A native of Alpharetta, Ga., Cunningham boasts a 4.0 grade point average as an engineering major.

Other nominees: John Russ (Mercer), Taylor Borman (Samford), Hunter Townson (Chattanooga) and Daniel Riddle (Western Carolina).
