NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The UNCG cross country teams traveled to Indiana for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational on Friday night. The women finished ninth in the Gold Division 5K race and were led by Kathleen Mansure, who finished just eight-tenths of a second off of her persona best, crossing the line in 17:50.8. The men’s team, which finished 16th overall, was led by Patrick O'Grady, who finished 63rd individually in a field of 18 teams.

Mansure earned her first career top-10 finish placing ninth amongst 150 runners to complete the 5,000-meter race at Burke Golf Course in Notre Dame. Katherine Link was the second Spartan to finished, placing 18th with a time of 18:03.9. Eira Jense was just six seconds behind her teammate earning a top-25 finish. Katlyn Ayers clocked a 18:58.5 while Katlyn Adkins  rounded out the top-five UNCG runners with a 20:00.3 5k time, her fastest of the season.

On the men’s side, Dakarai Shipp was the second Spartan to finish clocking a time of 26:18.7 on the five-mile course. Bryan Whyms and William Sandin finished a second apart turning in times of 26:20.6 and 26:21.8, respectively. The fifth Spartan runner, Robert Anderson, turned in a 26:46.6 and David Guthrie was UNCG’s sixth runner placing 135th overall.

UNCG returns to action Friday, Oct. 9, at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
