Bierman, Reilly Take Player of the Week Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Annie Bierman earned offensive player of the week honors, and Wofford’s Colleen Reilly garnered defensive player of the week distinction for competition that took place Oct. 12-18. Selections were made by the conference office.

Offensive Player of the Week: Annie Bierman ▪ Furman ▪ Junior ▪ Outside Hitter ▪ Hamilton, Ohio

Bierman, a junior from Hamilton, Ohio, put down a team-high 22 kills with a .333 hitting percentage in Furman’s 3-1 victory over Mercer on Saturday. Her 22 kills across four sets gave her a 5.50 kills per set average for the match, which was the Paladin’s only action this past week. Bierman leads the SoCon in kills per set with a 4.26 average and has upped her level of play in conference matches, averaging 4.50 kills per set against league foes. This marks her third career offensive player of the week award.

Defensive Player of the Week: Colleen Reilly ▪ Wofford ▪ Freshman ▪ Middle Blocker ▪ Chicago, Ill.

In what was a busy week for the Terriers, freshman Colleen Reilly posted 18 blocks in three matches, including a 12-block effort in Wofford’s four-set win over ETSU on Saturday. The performance tied Wofford’s single-match record for blocks. She added three blocks in a 3-1 triumph over South Carolina State and three more in a four-set loss to UNCG. The Chicago, Ill., native has multiple blocks in 20 of Wofford’s 24 matches this season, and her average of one block per set is tied for third in the league. This is Reilly’s first career weekly honor.
