TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Furman men’s tennis team opened the 2015 season Saturday at the Florida State Invitational at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla.

The Paladins fell to Denver, 4-1, to open the tournament.  Sophomore Juan Sheppard defeated Aidan Talcott, 6-2, 6-4, at flight six to score Furman’s lone point in the match.

In the second match of the day, No. 66 Louisiana defeated Furman, 4-2.  The Paladins won the doubles point to open play.  Senior Jacob Behal and sophomore Adam Steryous posted a 6-4 win versus Damian Farinola and Will Huyton at flight one, and senior Matt Browne teamed with Horst to down Jake Wynan and Jarred Wynan, 6-1, at flight two.  Rookie Stefan Rhodes posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Dimitr Stavropoulos at flight six in singles action. 

Furman (0-2) is back in action on Sunday to conclude the tournament.  The Paladins face an opponent that is yet to be determined at 10 a.m.
