SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Michaela Reesor, Furman’s Meg DeMaar and Wofford’s Molly Mayo have been named SoCon Offensive, Defensive and Freshman Volleyball Player of the Week, respectively, for games of September 2-7. The selections are made by the conference office.
Offensive Player of the Week: Michaela Reesor, Samford, Senior, Outside Hitter, Caledon, Ontario, Canada
Michaela Reesor, the reigning SoCon Player of the Year, totaled 60 kills while hitting .338 in three matches at the NKU Invitational last weekend. The senior outside hitter put down 25 kills and added 14 digs for her first double-double of the season in the Bulldogs five-set win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Reesor also recorded 18 kills against SIU Edwardsville and 17 kills against Northern Kentucky and was named to the All-Tournament team. Reesor currently leads the conference with 4.50 kills per set. This is the third career Offensive Player of the Week honor for the native of Caledon, Ontario, Canada.

Defensive Player of the Week: Meg DeMaar, Furman, Freshman, Libero, Glen Ellyn, Ill.
Meg DeMaar compiled 82 digs and averaged 5.47 digs per set in three five-set matches last weekend as Furman won the Carolina Challenge in Rock Hill, S.C. DeMaar, a native of Glen Ellyn, Ill., set a new career-high with 32 digs in a 3-2 victory over SEC opponent South Carolina on Saturday. She also turned in 25 digs in the Paladins’ five-set loss to Winthrop and their five-set victory over ACC foe Clemson to earn All-Tournament team honors. The freshman libero, who was named SoCon Freshman of the Week a week ago, is third in the conference with 4.93 digs per set.

Freshman of the Week: Molly Mayo, Wofford, Setter, Oak Lawn, Ill.
Molly Mayo recorded 109 assists with an average of 10.9 assists per sets in three games at the Wake Forest Tournament last week. The rookie setter recorded 45 assists and nine digs against Presbyterian College on Friday. She also totaled 32 assists in the Terriers sweep of N.C. Central and added another 32 assists against Wake Forest. The native of Oak Lawn, Ill., is second in the SoCon in assists per set this season with a mark of 10.41. It is the first Freshman of the Week honor for Mayo.
