SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford forward Matthew Aurednik has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Sept. 22-28. The selection is made by the league office.

Aurednik helped Wofford to a pair of wins last week. The Terriers rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the final 10 minutes of regulation to beat crosstown rival USC Upstate 3-2 on Wednesday. Aurednik had a shot on goal in the 88th minute that would have been the game-winner had an Upstate defender not used his hand to block the shot. Wofford was awarded a penalty kick and converted it for the win.

Against College of Charleston on Saturday, Aurednik scored both Terrier goals in the 2-0 win. The Lexington, S.C., native scored what would prove to be the game-winner in just the eighth minute and added an insurance goal in the 79th. The goals were the sophomore’s fourth and fifth of the season, putting him second in the SoCon in goals and points (10).

Wofford (4-3, 0-0 SoCon), which has won three straight since opening the season 1-3, hosts ETSU (4-3, 0-0 SoCon) in both teams’ league opener Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Snyder Field.
