SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga volleyball player Lauren Gainer has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Gainer earned All-Tournament honors at the Scenic City Showdown last week as the Mocs went 3-1. The junior had 29 kills in four matches while hitting .441 for the week and putting down 12 blocks. Gainer recorded six blocks against Stetson on Friday and then followed with 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage against SC State on Saturday.

Gainer, a native of Boca Raton, Fla., leads the Mocs with 54 blocks this season, tied for third-most in the conference. The exercise science major holds a 3.6 grade point average overall and was named Academic All-SoCon last season.
