UNCG's White Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG forward Chesney White has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Sept. 15-21. The selection is made by the league office.

White helped UNCG win both of its matches last week to even its record at 4-4-2. The junior from Franklin, Tenn., scored two goals on the week, both of them game-winners.

Against High Point on Friday, White scored in the 15th minute of the Spartans’ eventual 3-0 win. She followed that up with the lone goal in UNCG’s 1-0 win over James Madison on Sunday, notching the decisive strike in the 80th minute. The goal against the Dukes was her seventh of the season, establishing a new career high.

UNCG opens SoCon play at Mercer (5-4) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Also nominated: Vanessa Aponte (The Citadel), Hannah Short (ETSU), Stephanie DeVita (Furman), Amanda Abbott (Samford) and Carly Tinstman (Western Carolina).
