Nokes Announced as Assistant Wofford Volleyball Coach

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford head volleyball coach Ron Sweet announced the hiring of Amy Nokes on Thursday as an assistant coach. She was most recently an assistant at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia.

Nokes primarily works with the setters. All three of Wofford's setters are new to the program this season.

"We're really excited about Amy joining our staff," said Sweet. "She adds a lot of knowledge and experience for our setters, who are very young and have a lot to learn. Amy will be a great teacher and mentor for them."

Nokes was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and played high school volleyball at Lane Technical College Prep. To date, she still holds seven school records. Nokes' experience stems from her early playing career at the club level as a member of Sky High Volleyball.

Following high school, Nokes was recruited to play volleyball at Charleston Southern University. She was named to numerous all-tournament teams during her career at CSU and was captain of the team her senior year. She currently ranks in the top ten in four different categories held in the CSU record books. Following her senior year, Nokes received an offer to play professional volleyball, and played in both Finland and Sweden before she had a season ending injury that brought her back to South Carolina to finish her teaching degree.

Nokes graduated from Charleston Southern University with a degree in physical education and kinesiology in 2013. She has been in the club circuit for seven years, beginning with her coaching career at Charleston Juniors while playing at CSU.
