AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Katie Kessler of the Wofford women's cross country and track and field teams was named an NCAA Division I Capital One Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), when the association released its list of Academic All-America selections Thursday.

Kessler, who landed on the Academic All-America Third Team, joins Lauren Bosshardt (Wofford '08) as the two members of the Terrier cross country and track and field teams to be named Academic All-Americans. Kessler was voted an Academic All-District IV selection in late May, earning the right to be nominated for Academic All-America honors. The voting for All-America honors was done by NCAA Division I members of CoSIDA.

A recent Wofford graduate, Kessler earned a B.A. in biology with an outstanding 4.0 GPA. She was named to the 2013-14 fall and winter Academic All-Southern Conference Teams, marking the third time she had been on the list in her four-year career. She was also a member of the Southern Conference Honor Roll and was a Southern Conference Commissioner's Medal recipient.

A senior from Springboro, Ohio, Kessler competed in all track meets for both the indoor and outdoor seasons, setting two outdoor school records in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay. She also competed in the 400 meter, 800 meter, 4x400-meter relay and the distance medley relay.
