Henderson Named NCEL Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Teghan Henderson, a runner from Chattanooga, has been named the North Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for April 9, the league office announced Wednesday.

Henderson is a redshirt freshman from Pickering, Ontario, and holds a 3.87 GPA while majoring in business management. She set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run over the weekend, clocking a 16:13.03 to win her heat at the Stanford Invitational. Henderson finished 18 seconds ahead of the runner-up and 26 seconds ahead of the next collegiate competitor.

Also nominated for NCEL Student-Athlete of the Week were Appalachian State baseball player Dillon Dobson, Davidson women's tennis player Brites Moniz-Soares and Elon women’s golfer Sunna Vidisdottir.
