SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Appalachian State’s Kyle McFoy and Samford’s Sidney Jordan have been named the Southern Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets over the weekend. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.
McFoy finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run at the Florida Relays over the weekend, clocking a 14:32.41 and placing him atop the SoCon rankings in the 5k this season.
Jordan set a new Samford record with a throw of 51-10 in the shot put at the Auburn Invite, giving him the top throw in the conference this season.
Chattanooga’s Teghan Henderson and Appalachian State’s Briana Tate were selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets over the weekend. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.
Henderson led from start to finish in the No. 5 section of the 5,000-meter at the Stanford Invitational over the weekend. She finished with a time of 16:13:03, 18 seconds ahead of the runner-up, to set a new school record.
Tate placed third at the Florida Relays with a throw of 14.6 meters in the shot put over the weekend. Her performance ranks her first in the SoCon this season.
