UTC?s Britt Named Women?s Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga senior Jordan Britt has been named the Southern Conference women’s golfer of the week for all competition from April 2-8. The selection is made by the league office.

Britt finished fourth out of 100 golfers at the Web.com Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on Monday and Tuesday, firing a 4-under-par 212 for her fifth top-five finish of the season and eighth of her career. The Chattanooga, Tenn., native fired a career-low 5-under 67 in the first round before shooting a 2-under 70 in the second for her best career 36-hole total (137). She capped her tournament with a 3-over 75, and had a stretch of 34 straight holes of par or better spanning the three rounds.

Britt finished ahead of all five individuals ranked in the top 100 nationally that were in the tournament.

The 19-team field featured four teams ranked in the top 50, including top-25 squads No. 17 UCF and No. 24 Ohio State. The Mocs finished ninth.

The weekly honor is the third this season for Britt.

Chattanooga returns to action at the Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship on the North Course at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C., starting this Sunday. The three-day event will determine who claims the SoCon’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. The Mocs are the four-time defending champions of the event, while Britt was the 2012 medalist.

Also nominated: Kelsey Badmaev (Elon) and Taylor Totland (Furman).
