Chattanooga third at Web.com Intercollegiate
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Jordan Britt and Emily McLennan fired career-low rounds, leading the Chattanooga Mocs to third-place at the Web.com Intercollegiate. The Mocs opened with a 6-under-par 282 and ended Monday’s 36 holes at 577 (+1).
The 282 is the second-best round in school history behind 278 (-10) to complete the 2011 JMU Eagle Landing Invitational win. The 577 through 36 holes is a new school best.
Britt and McLennan also turned in personal lows Monday. Britt’s 67 on her opening card is her career best and one off Christine Wolf’s (2008-11) school mark. Her 7-under 36-hole total of 137 is also a new team record.
McLennan is just two behind Britt at minus-5 (139). She also turned in a career-low round with a 68 (-4) in the first round and her low 36-hole total (139), which is second only to Britt in the school’s record book.
The squad’s 577 is third behind Florida State (568) and East Carolina (575). The Mocs are three clear of No. 17 UCF and Minnesota in fourth and five ahead of No. 24 Ohio State in sixth.
FSU’s Matilda Castren is in first at 9-under (135). That’s two ahead of Britt and Juliet Vongphourny (Maryland) in second at -7. McLennan and James Madison’s Shabril Brewer are tied for fourth at -5.
