Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Tanner Hinkle has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets over the weekend. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.

Hinkle ran the 10,000-meter in 29:38.11 to set a new Furman record at the Raleigh Relays. His time is the best in the SoCon this season and ranks 13th in the nation.

Furman’s Sinead Haughey and Elon’s Megan Kirschling were selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets over the weekend. The selections are made by the league’s track and field coaches.

Haughey set a Furman record in the 10,000-meter with a time of 35:09.37 at the Raleigh Relays over the weekend. Her time ranks first in the SoCon this season and fourth in the nation.

Kirschling cleared 5-7 in the high jump at the Raleigh Relays, setting a new conference best for this season.

There was not a selection for Men’s Field Athlete of the Week this week.
