SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon senior Frida Jansaker has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played April 6-13. Jansaker was a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles competition last week as the Phoenix picked up SoCon wins over UNCG (6-1) and Western Carolina (7-0) to close the regular season.

Competing at No. 2 singles for Elon, the Kristianstad, Sweden, native earned a three-set victory over UNCG’s Stephanie Falcon (6-0, 4-6, 6-3) to open the week.  Jansaker then cruised past Western Carolina’s Shannon Bettiol, 6-0, 6-1.  Jansaker finished the regular season winning 14 of her last 15 singles matches and was a perfect 9-0 in SoCon play.

Playing at No. 2 doubles with Maria Camara Ruiz, the Elon duo topped UNCG’s Yasmin Franco and Dilara Yurtkuran, 8-3 before blanking Western Carolina’s Nicole Nielly and Megan McLinden, 8-0 for their second straight win.

Elon (12-8, 6-3 SoCon) earned the No. 4 seed in this week’s Southern Conference tournament.  The Phoenix will take on fifth-seeded UNCG (8-12, 5-4 SoCon) Thursday afternoon at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State’s Makenzie LaSure, Furman’s Blair Martin, Samford’s Yasmeen Ebada, Chattanooga’s Katie Polk and Western Carolina’s Stacia Kissell.
